Cheering up England after the rugger

Still not a bad part of the world, this sceptic isle, as far as current sporting prowess goes....... Consider: Hamilton on top of the pile in F1; Englland retaining the ashes in cricket; Froom winner of the Tour de France; fantastic performances on track and fiield by our athletes in last Olympics and World Athletics; Davies Cup finalists.......ok, bit of licence there with some GB'ers and a Saffer, but you get my drift. ....and we can still smash the Aussies with oval ball next week.

And not to forget the top London team in the Prem.

First football team to qualify for Euro,s(100% record still) ,Englands Rugby women win the World cup,England Women win the Euro's England football women get bronze in World cup not bad... we get a defeat and the jealous rest love it!

I know there are switches of loyalties and residency by Granny involved but Chris Froome is the least English man in sport.
Bit mean to try and steal the great achievement of a KENYAN winning a cycle race innit given all these other triumphs ?
He lives in Monaco with his S African wife and I'm not sure he has ever been in England apart from for the Yorkshire stage of the Tour de France.

And it would be nice if more Englishmen appreciated the greatest ever British tennis player .... the Scotsman Andy Murray.

He was born in Kenya, grew up in Africa and as far as I know has had no further connection with England bar a financial one with Sky Racing.
Just strikes me as an African
Albeit a tax dodging Monaco resident one.

He is even less English than Kevin Pietersen which is saying something.
Other African born players like Andrew Strauss and Matt Prior are obviously English men born there by circumstance

I just think it's small minded to deny Africa a Tour de France winner.

I was born in Kenya of English patents, grew up in East Africa, just like Froome. I'm as passionate a supporter of England in all sports as anyone. Where you are born is irrelevant. It is whether you feel English and identify yourself with England. If Froome does that then he is fine by me. If not I still want him winning for England!

If Kenya had asked you to represent them at sport would you have done it? I suspect not.
I don't know Froome, I just get the impression he is English for financial reasons.
Which he is perfectly entitled to do.

Why would any Aussie be bitter when England have just lost to Wales?

Especially when Wales now only have about 3 fit players left before their game against Australia, which gives Australia a very good chance of now getting through.

On a thread about English sporting levels I was just pointing out that Andy Murray is Scottish and Chris Froome is Kenyan.
Not sure what that has to do with trying to identify Australia with one particular sport ..... they play lots of sports there.
Definitely not at their peak in rugby union or cricket though 'shit' is a bit harsh.
I think you should apologise ....... to England who are ranked behind them in both sports including all 3 cricket formats with 3 times the population.
